Conduct code

The wastage of 800 hours devalues democracy (‘Much ado, but not over nothing’ by KV Prasad; Sunday Tribune, March 2). Politicians must follow a code of conduct. The principle of ‘no work, no pay’ should be implemented. For healthy debates, they should stay in Parliament for at least five hours when it is in session.

Sangeet makeover

Apropos ‘The big fat Indian wedding sangeet’ (Sunday Tribune, March 2), Indian weddings are celebrated with gusto. But now professional singers and DJs have replaced women sitting on the floor with dholki and spoon. Now the function has been lifted to a new level, but it is more entertaining with full family participation.

Prompt aid

Apropos ‘Fractured service for road casualties’ (Sunday Tribune, March 2), it is a pity that trauma centres lack trained staff. The government must equip hospitals with adequate staff and machinery and ambulances with experienced medical staff. The highway patrol should be made more effective so there is minimum casualty due to accidents.
