5 cops chargesheeted 
Chandigarh, February 21
The UT police today filed a detailed chargesheet in the sensational rape case of a minor girl involving UT police constables as the accused. Two of the five constables who were booked have been charged with rape while the remaining three have been charged with criminal conspiracy, threatening and molesting the minor girl.

Rose Fest gets off to a colourful start

Uphill outing turns fatal
Panchkula, February 21
A 24-year-old youth was killed and three others were critically injured when the Swift car they were travelling in hit a divider on Mallah Road near the Pinjore bypass in Panchkula district late last night. The victims, all hailing from Sangrur in Punjab, were coming back from the Kasauli hills after an outing.

Complaints of substandard food on board Shatabdi
Chandigarh, February 21
All is not well with the quality of food being served on board the Shatabdi Express trains between Chandigarh and New Delhi if complaints received by the Northern Railway authorities during the past one month are any indication.

Empty flower beds greet visitors to Rose Fest
Chandigarh, February 21
Empty flower beds and withered flowers greeted the visitors to the three-day Rose Festival, which began today at Zakir Rose Garden, Sector 16, here. While the Municipal Corporation (MC) claimed to showcase over 825 varieties of flowers, the visitors seemed disappointed on finding the flower beds either empty or with one or two flowers.

Students prepare bio-diesel from waste cooking oil
Mohali, February 21
Students of the Quest Group of Institutions have prepared eco-friendly bio-diesel from waste cooking oil. The students, Gurpartap Singh, Girjit Singh, Manpreet Singh, Lalit Kumar, Manjit Sangra, Suraj Chichi and Rajat Kumar, under the guidance of the Mechanical Department, produced bio-diesel by the transestrification process.

Delay in giving possession of flats
Employees’ housing body penalised
Mohali, February 21
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum today penalised the Central Government Employees Welfare Housing Organisation (CGEWHO) for causing delay in the effective possession of flats in Kendriya Vihar, Mohali. The forum has directed the organisation to pay Rs 2.25 lakhs as compensation and Rs 22,000 as litigation costs to 16 complainants.

Youth booked for molesting minor girl
Chandigarh, February 21
The UT police today booked a youth for molesting a minor girl. The accused allegedly sexually harassed a 14-year-old girl studying in a government school. The minor girl told the police that Rohit, a resident of Sector 25-D, has been passing lewd remarks at her and following her continuously since last week.
