Fog effect: Rail traffic goes off-track
Ludhiana, January 30
Dense fog disrupted rail traffic today. Railway authorities were forced to reschedule the arrival and departure timings of most of the trains. Trains originating or bound for Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai were delayed by several hours, putting passengers to inconvenience.

Now, online test for learner’s licence
Ludhiana, January 30
Want to get a learner's licence? Go through the rulebook and be conversant with traffic symbols. An applicant will now have to score at least 60 per cent marks in the online test for getting the licence. If the applicant fails to score well, he or she will have to apply for it again after a week.

TB patients gasp for breath
Ludhiana, January 30
Patients suffering from tuberculosis had to return without medication and tests following strike by the tuberculosis wing staff. Demanding revision in salary, the employees are on indefinite strike since Wednesday.

A 60-year-old man died following a quarrel with his son-in-law and his parents outside a mediation cell near Lakkar Bridge today. The victim was identified as Surinder Arora.

Poor turnout for telecast of EDUSAT programme
Ludhiana, January 30
The Educational Satellite (EDUSAT) programme on the safety of school vehicles received a poor response from private schools today. Not even a single school bus/van driver attended the telecast of ‘Safe School Vahan Scheme’ programme that was broadcasted at 30 EDUSAT laboratories in various government schools this morning.

Parents’ body formed to redress complaints
Ludhiana, January 30
A body named ‘Parents ‘Association’ has been formed to help the parents, who have complaints against the ‘arbitrary’ decisions of private schools. The office-bearers invited parents to join the association.

Make them repent, if they comment
Such comments are not made when the police personnel are around colleges and schools. But in their absence, boys can be seen passing comments. High security should be in place. Eve-teasers should be dealt with an iron hand. They should be given exemplary punishment to instil fear in their minds.

ASHA district in-charge Kuldeep Kaur Jassowal said, "The main demand of the activists is that they should be brought under a minimum pay-scale.
