Man arrested on molestation charge: The police have arrested a man on the charge of molesting a woman. The victim complained to the police that accused Jatinder Singh of Bajwara Kalan village in the district had entered her house forcibly and tried to assault her sexually. On resisting, she was beaten up. The police have booked the accused under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code

Travel agent booked for duping woman of Rs 1.5 lakh: The police today booked an illegal travel agent his accomplice on the charge of duping a woman of Rs 1.5 lakh on the pretext of sending her abroad. In her complaint to the police, victim Jaspreet Kaur of Sandhwa village alleged that the accused, travel agent Gurmit Singh of Khera village and his accomplice Kuljit Kaur of Kataria village, struck a deal of Rs 6 lakh for sending her to Canada. Jaspreet paid Rs 1.5 lakh
in advance in two instalments to the accused. The accused neither sent her abroad nor returned the money, the victim alleged. The accused have been booked under Section 420 (cheating)
of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

25-yr-old youth killed in accident: A 25-year-old youth was killed in a road accident at Nurpur Bedi here on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Sukhwinder Singh of Mahilpur, Hoshiarpur district. Sukhwinder was returning from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib when the accident took place. The police said Sukhwinder Singh Sunny and Sanjeev Raja, who had gone to Anandpur Sahib on their motorcycle, met with an accident while returning near Kahanpur Khuhi due to a damaged road. A case has been registered under Section 174 of the
CrPC.
