Civic body purchases nine more dumper placers

Tribune photos: Parvesh Chauhan The Municipal Corporation has added nine more dumper placers to the fleet of existing 44. The dumpers are used for lifting and transporting garbage. The new vehicles have been purchased for over Rs 81 lakh.

Cong to announce candidate on Dec 28
Chandigarh, December 26
The Congress will announce the name of the candidate for the Mayoral elections on December 28, a few hours before the filing of nominations. The party has called for a meeting of all Congress councillors at the party office in Sector 35 to decide on the candidate.

Training camp inaugurated
Mohali, December 26
A regional training camp of the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) was inaugurated here today.

Mohali, December 26
Two persons, both in their thirties, were killed after the car they were travelling in hit the railing of the Panchkula-Zirakpur flyover in Dhakoli late on Wednesday night. The deceased were identified as 39-year-old Himanshu Tyagi, a resident of Sector 20, Panchkula, and 36-year-old Manoj Malik of Sector 12 A, Panchkula.
Eyewitnesses said after hitting the railing, the car flung into the air and turned turtle on the service road. The car was being driven by Manoj.
