Members nominated: The Punjab Government has nominated six members of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority. These are District and Sessions Judges HS Madan and RS Attari; Daljit Singh, principal, Khalsa College, Amritsar; Tajinder Kaur, pro-chancellor, Desh Bhagat University; Pappo Abnash Singh, social worker, and Nishtha Jaswal of Panjab University.

3 hospitals raided: The Excise and Taxation Department raided
three Patiala hospitals, including Patiala Heart, Sadbhavna and Dr
Randhawa's Eye Clinic, and took into possession certain documents and
computer discs to ascertain whether these were paying tax on the
implants and consumables used during surgery. Excise and Taxation
Commissioner Anurag Verma said, “A parallel raid was conducted in
Chandigarh on the supplier providing material to these hospitals.”

Student killed in mishap: Avtar Singh (14) was killed when his bicycle was hit by a bus at Balad Kalan Kenchian near Bhawanigarh. He was returning home from school.

2 teenaged girls abducted: The police have registered a case against 10 persons, including five women, in two separate incidents for allegedly abducting two teenaged girls. The police said the girls were abducted on the pretext of marriage.
