PVR Cinemas sealed

A day after suspending the licence of PVR Cinemas at the Centra and Elante malls for two days, teams of the enforcement wing, led by Tehsildar DS Baloria, descended on the malls and sealed the multiplexes till tomorrow.

Protect property rights of the elderly, says HC
Chandigarh, September 26
Virtually rapping the Chandigarh Administration for not having in place a mechanism for protecting the property rights of the elderly, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today set a one-month deadline for the authorities concerned to come out with “proper rules” to safeguard the life and property of senior citizens.

15 taken ill after having snacks at food joint
Mohali, September 26
Fifteen persons, including four women and three children, were hospitalised after having food at Barbeque Nation in Phase V this evening. Eight-year-old Bhavya and her elder sister Mallika fell unconscious after having snacks at the restaurant while their mother Sangeeta, a schoolteacher, started vomiting. Kamaljit, his wife Sandeep and son Laksh Partap, who were sitting next to them, also complained of giddiness.

Road rage: Youth convicted of murder

The Court of District and Sessions Judge, SK Aggarwal, today convicted a 28-year-old youth in a murder case. The accused, Vishal Sharma, a Mohali resident, had stabbed a 21-year-old youth, Nitin Bansal, during a road rage.

A youth was awarded 10 years of imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl in Pinjore by the local court here today.
