Korean panel meets Deputy CM
: A high-level delegation of Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) on Tuesday met Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal to explore avenues for investment in the state. The five-member delegation led by Kotra's Director General Dongseok Choi, apprised Sukhbir of its globally recognised electronics industry. He also invited the Sukhbir to an interactive session with the CEOs and MDs of Korean companies. Moreover, the Deputy CM will now lead a delegation to Bengaluru, Taiwan, Delhi and Mumbai to persuade industrial giants to set up their units in the state.

Woman killed, 4 injured in mishap
: A 50-year-old woman Bimla Rani was killed and four others were injured when a tractor-trailer collided head-on with a car at Khetla village near Dirba on Tuesday. Bimla died on the spot while her husband Ved Parkash, and three others, including Ramandeep Kaur, Amandeep Kaur and Karamjit Kaur, sustained injuries. A case has been registered against the tractor-trailer's driver who fled from the spot. 

Police remand for govt officer: In a cheating and forgery case, a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) was on Tuesday remanded to police custody till September 26 by the court of Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Sunam. CDPO Anita, now posted at Jhunir in Mansa district, was arrested in July. Station House Officer (SHO) Satnam Singh said a case had been registered.. 

Poverty drives man to suicide: A 23-year-old man Satwinder Singh of Kohrian village allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance on Monday. He died while he was being taken to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. Satwinder, who ran a motorcycle repair shop in the village, allegedly killed himself for failing to make ends meet. A case has been registered. 

Synthetic athletic track in Sangrur: Under the Urban Sports Infrastructure Scheme (USIS), the Union Ministry for Youth Affairs and Sports has sanctioned a proposal for laying synthetic athletic track at the war heroes stadium here. Sangrur MP Vijay Inder Singla said the track would be laid at a cost of about Rs 7 crore, of which the Centre would finance Rs 5.5 crore while the remaining amount would be contributed by him from his MPLAD fund. He said the work would be carried out by National Building Construction Company.

Man shoots self: Thirtyfive-year-old man, identified as Rohit, allegedly committed suicide here on Tuesday. He used to run an eatery outlet. According to his family, Rohit allegedly shot himself from his pistol . He was taken to Doon Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Two killed: Mohan Thapa (65) died after being hit by a motorcycle on Canal Road on Monday night. He was taken to Doon Hospital, where he died on Tuesday. In another accident, Dayal Singh Rawat was hit by a vehicle in Rishikesh. He was taken to Government Hospital, Rishikesh, where he died.
