Class IX student found dead in Mussoorie school bathroom
Mussoorie, September 12 The teenager was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital by the school administration but was declared brought dead. The police after recovering the body has sent it for postmortem and begun investigations into the case. According to the school Principal Manjari Joshi, the deceased student, Nishant, was reprimanded on Wednesday for allegedly writing a letter with objectionable content to a girl of class VIII in the same school. The parents of the deceased were informed on the phone around 8 pm yesterday about the ''indecent behaviour'' of their son and were asked to take him away from the school immediately. Narrating the chronology of the incident, she said that some senior students who were on their morning jog found the body of the deceased hanging on a wooden plank of the bathroom of the school and immediately informed the school authorities about the incident. The school administration rushed the boy to the government hospital where he was reported brought dead. However, the shocked parents of the deceased who reached Mussoorie from Meerut today, alleging foul play, have registered a complaint against the school administration. According to Dr. Rajveer Singh, the father of the deceased, who is also posted as the Chief Medical Officer in the Meerut administration, the school informed him late at night yesterday that he should immediately report to the school as his son had written a letter with some obscene remarks addressed to a junior girl student of the same school. When the parents arrived at the school, the school administration, showing indifferent attitude, did not offer them even a glass of water and informed them that their son was dead and the body was at the government hospital. Dr Rajveer Singh alleged that when he enquired from other students, including his second son studying in the same school, he was told that Nishant was mentally tortured by the school principal and thrashed by the warden for writing alleged obscene remarks in the school. Depressed by the whole incident, Nishant finally committed suicide by hanging hanging himself from a wooden plank of the bathroom today. Dr. Rajveer further informed the media that some students had run away from the school a few months back due to the ''Draconian attitude of the school administration, especially the dormitory wardens,'' thus indicating that all was not well in the school. Dr. Rajveer also raised his doubts over the objectionable letter allegedly written by his son as being claimed by the school and said that it is yet to be established that the letter was written by his son or some other student. The aggrieved mother of the deceased, speaking to the media, said: ''My son was a strong lad and would have in no way committed suicide until he was tortured mentally and physically.'' She further said that as she was also a working women, she had thought of providing their children quality education in a boarding school of Mussoorie, ''but I had no inkling on what was going on in the school.'' She also said that they were taking away their other son, fearing he would also meet the same fate in the school. She demanded immediate arrest of the officials who had forced her child to commit such an act and forfeit the license of the school with immediate affect till the investigations were complete to save the other students from being harassed further. The town is in a state of shock at the in incident and many parents under anonymity are of the view that such public schools have become mere money-minting shops where the students are not provided any care and are left to fend for themselves. They also alleged that the absence of any qualified counsellors also led to such incidents where lives of teenagers were lost in such a shameful way. When contacted, the investigation officer, RP Sati, said that they had not found any suicide note from the scene and had registered a case against the two hostel wardens, Dipendar Rawat and Pankaj Khatri, under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code for abetment to suicide and begun investigations considering all angles in the case. Meanwhile, the parents have taken the body of their deceased son for performing final rites. Many educationists feel that this incident calls for the need of better understanding from the school administration and handling in order to avoid such incidents in the near future. |

No arrests in two murder cases that rocked Doon
Dehradun, September 12 Neeru Saini, wife SK Saini, was was alone at home then. The children were at school in the afternoon and her husband, who is a contractor, was out on work when the incident took place. Although SSP Kewal Khuranna formed special police teams to crack the case, there is no breakthrough as yet in the case. A new fact has came out in the case that the assailants could be two or three in number and even had tea and water there before committing the crime, as police recovered two used tea cups and one half-filled glass of water from the table. Police sources confirmed to The Tribune that the prima facie evidence showed that Neeru knew the murderers, as the door lock was found to be unbroken and they got easy entry inside the house. Five special police teams have been formed by the SSP to solve the case. In another case, it's been more than one week since 70-year-old woman, Rajesh Kumar, was murdered in broad daylight inside her house at Sevla Kela in Patel Nagar Police Station area. Interestingly, in both the cases, the police has found one similarity-- the assailants did not break into the house with an intention of loot or burglary as all the valuables and jewelry was intact. It reflects that the incidents were carried out by known persons with other motives, which police have to find out.Regarding the Rajesh Kumar murder case, one senior officer requesting anonymity confirmed that the maid and the clinic compounder who works in the victim's husband clinic are the prime suspects. Rajesh Kumar was murdered with her throat slit last week when her husband, who is a doctor, had left for his homeopathic clinic at Majra in the morning. The senior citizen couple was living alone as their children live outside. The police interrogated the maid and the compounder, who works in the husband's clinic. SP City, Jagdish Chandra, told The Tribune, "We are working on all possible angles in both the cases and I am hopeful that both cases will be solved very soon." |

''The pan masala that does not contain tobacco is not banned in Uttarakhand but as it has been discovered, adulterated pan masala containing tobacco is being sold in the market in the garb of tobacco-free pan masala. Sacked cops' march to Secretariat thwarted
Dehradun, September 12 The sacked policemen, who are on an indefinite agitation, are demanding their reinstatement. However, the protesters went back to Lansdowne Chowk and raised slogans against the government. In 2012, the government had terminated the services of 200 policemen after it was found that they had filled their job application forms from more than one place. The sacked policemen are, however, accusing the government of favouritism. “We have a list of those persons who had also filled their application forms from more than one place and still their services have not been terminated because they have contacts in the government,” said one of the agitating policemen. |
