Woman raped:
A woman was allegedly raped at Jandiala village yesterday. The police said the woman alleged that the accused Suraj Sahota came to her residence yesterday morning and raped her. After raping her, he fled. Police is actively searching the accused. The police has booked Suraj Sahota under Section 376 of the IPC.

Man arrested: Talwara police has arrested Jatinder Singh of Jugial village for swindling Rs 1,85,477 of Hoshiarpur Automobiles, Talwara. The police said Jatinder Singh, who was working as a salesman in the showroom of Hoshiarpur Automobiles, Talwara, was authorised to collect cash from the customers and deposit the same with the company. After collecting a balance amount from some customers he did not deposited the cash Rs 1,85,477 with the company. A case under Section 406 of the IPC has been registered.

Travel agent booked: A travel agent has duped 4,300 euro from Navjit Singh on the pretext of sending him abroad. The police said Sarabjit Singh of Indergarh, district Moga allegedly took 4,300 euro from Navjit Singh, son of Des Raj of Bajwara Kalan village for sending him to Cyprus. But neither did he send him abroad nor returned his money. Sadar police has booked the accused under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC.

Rural bank Director elected: Nand Lal Thakur, a Congress leader of Rani Kotla, near here, was elected the Director of the HP State Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank at Kisan Bhawan here on Friday. Returning officer-cum-Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Roshan Lal Khajuria, said out of 5,524 voters here in the district, only 813 cast their vote. Nand Lal got 501 votes while Girdhari Lal Nadda got 217 votes and Rajesh Kumar got 95 votes.

Teacher injured in road mishap: Hem Raj, a teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Tadaun, was injured seriously when a speeding truck hit him on the roadside while he was waiting for a bus at Targhel village, 60 km from here, on Saturday morning. Suneel Kumar, truck driver, fled the spot. First Hem Raj was rushed to the Ghumarwin Civil Hospital and then to the PGI, Chandigarh. The police has registered a case and arrested the driver.

CHAMBA
4 pickpockets arrested: The police arrested four pickpockets at the Manimahesh Lake on Friday. Chamba SP Jagat Ram said on a complaint of Joginder Pal Singh of Mukerian (Punjab), the police team on duty swung into action and nabbed four pickpockets belonging to the neighbouring states. The SP said 16 leather purses, five mobile phones, three SIM cards and Rs 62,264 had been recovered from them.
