Unions at loggerheads
Fatehgarh Sahib, September 1 Government Aided Schools Bachao Front Punjab, a powerful organisation of these teachers that is opposing the merger, has decided to celebrate Teacher's Day with great enthusiasm at the district headquarters. Punjab Government Aided School Teachers’ Union, which is demanding the merger, however, has decided to boycott the celebrations in protest of the failure of the government to merge the schools. State president of Government Aided Schools Bachao Front Punjab Malkiat Singh said those giving the call to boycott Teacher's Day were enemies of teachers, as they did not realise the importance of the day. Meanwhile, another union, Government Aided Schools Progressive Front, is ready for the merger, but only with a concrete policy. |
