Randhir Singh, member of the rival Thakur Dalip Singh faction, who was allegedly chased out of Bhaini Sahib and was assaulted on Monday night while he was on his way to pay obeisance at Akal Bunga, claimed that he was targeted as his son Ranvir Singh was present at Namdhari Gurdwara at Leicester, England, where Thakur Uday Singh was attacked.

Ludhiana, August 14
The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation is going slow on starting the stray dog sterilisation project in the city. Though the project to sterilise 25,000 stray dogs was approved at the Finance and Contracts Committee (F&CC) meeting held on January 30 and even Rs 2 crore were sanctioned for the project.

2 police officers to be decorated
Ludhiana, August 14
Two police officers have been decorated with the prestigious Police Medal for Meritorious Service by the President of India. Two names, Gurpreet Singh Toor posted as AIG (Crime), Ludhiana, and Sub-Inspector (SI) Harbans Singh, were announced from the office of the Commissioner of Police this evening. Gurpreet Singh Toor has worked at various levels in the police department.

Security has been stepped up ahead of the Independence Day in Ludhiana It’s payback time
Ludhiana, August 14
People from all walks of life, who have done exceptionally well in their fields, will be awarded the State Award by the Punjab Government on the Independence Day tomorrow. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will be presenting the award during a state-level function to be held at the SCD Government College for Boys.

55-year-old man ends life
Ludhiana, August 14
Debt ridden 55-year-old man had committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his shop here today.The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Joshi Nagar. He left a six-page suicide note in which he had stated that he was facing financial crisis and was continuously being harassed by a private financier, Roshan Lal. The police has registered a case against Roshan Lal for abetment to suicide and started the investigation.
