Nominations filed for panchayat elections
Nawanshahr, June 23
As many as 1,819 nominations for the posts of sarpanches and 6,566 for the panches were filed for 460 village panchayats, election for which is due on July 3 in the district.
Election for the Rattewal panchayat would be held later. Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Paul said scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on Monday. The candidates who have not filed their SC certificates along with their nomination papers can submit the requisite certificates by Monday.
