Self study important, says ICSE topper
Dehradun, May 18 With ease, right through her final year at the school, Bhuvanyaa struck a fine balance between her academics and extra-curricular activities, "I firmly believe that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and in my case different pursuits such as debates, quizzing and writing kept me focused and stress free," said Bhuvanyaa. Daughter of an Indian Forest Service (IFS) father and painter mother, Bhuvanyaa says she had even tried taking up painting as a hobby, but could not pursue it long enough. "Thanks to my father's engagement with outdoors, by virtue of him being an IFS officer, I too got bitten by the travelling bug and it continues to this day," she said. To those who swear by coaching classes and individual tuitions for scoring high percentage, Bhuvanayaa's only advice is, "Pay attention to what is being taught in the class and revise it often. I never went for tuitions during my boards because I felt these were drain on one's time and one would be left with no time for self study which is important for grasping the subject," she said. A young mind with a clear vision Bhuvanyaa, though scoring very high marks in mathematics, physics and computer science, has already decided to pursue law or economics after the senior school. "I opted for engineering stream because it leaves you with several options. Besides, one gets habituated into working hard soon after passing the class X and continues to maintain the pace required for the college years. But I would now like to study law and I am awaiting the results of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), if not I would then seek admission in either economics or commerce stream at Delhi University (DU)," she added. Crediting her school principal for encouraging her to aim still higher, she says soon after her high school during which she scored 98 per cent marks, teachers and the principal had begun to mark her. "At the outset, I must tell you, there was no pressure on me, but the confidence reposed by my principal and teachers in my abilities was enough to motivate me and strive to better my performance," she added. |

Mall said to meet the demand of parking in the town, he was looking at a proposal of constructing parking lots, where 10-20 vehicles could be parked easily. Mall said a proposal to introduce door-to-door garbage collection was also on anvil and would be introduced soon. He would be meeting senior officials to discuss the ways of making the town tourist friendly in a day or two.
