Four-yr-old raped by neighbour in Seemapuri
New Delhi, May 11
A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 22-year-old neighbour in the Seemapuri area of northeast Delhi on Thursday night, police said today. The accused is the victim’s neighbour and is absconding.

40,000 low-cost flats to be built for urban poor
New Delhi, May 11
The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) today approved a few proposals, including a project for the construction of 40,000 flats for the urban poor in two different locations, four projects for constructing around 6,200 flats in various places and allotment of around 14,000 low-cost flats by September this year.

Man held for Munika girl murder
New Delhi, May 11
A 28-year-old man has been arrested today for allegedly killing an 18-year-old girl in her house at Munirka Village. The accused is identified as Subhash, alias Rohit, who is a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad. The victim, Sakshi, was a class 12 student at the Sarvodya Senior Secondary School in R.K. Puram. Her father, Pritam Singh, said Subhash is his nephew

Youth beaten to death after spat over spitting
New Delhi, May 11
A youth was beaten to death after a tiff over spitting in front of a house at Jahangirpuri in northwest Delhi on Friday. The victim is identified as Arun, who stayed with his family in K Block of Jahangirpuri. He was roaming in the A-Block area when he expectorated in front of Dharampal’s house.

Defence civilians’ houses need repair: BJP

A large number of BJP workers today held a demonstration at the office of the Chief Engineer, Delhi Zone at Delhi Cantonment, to draw the attention of the Union Defence Ministery to the deplorable conditions of the Defence civilians’ houses.

Four-yr-old raped by neighbour in Seemapuri

New Delhi, May 11
A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 22-year-old neighbour in the Seemapuri area of northeast Delhi on Thursday night, police said today.
The accused is the victim’s neighbour and is absconding.

A police officer said that on Thursday night a wedding was being held in the neighbourhood of the girl’s house. There were lights all around. She wandered into the venue, curious about knowing the ceremonies, said the officer.

“The accused saw her and lured her to a park in the vicinity. He allegedly raped her before fleeing,” said the police officer. The police said the victim’s parents, who were searching for her, heard her screams.

They found her in the park. She told her parents about what the accused had done. On Friday afternoon, the parents reported the matter to the police. A case under the Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered at the Seemapuri police station.

The police are presently searching for the accused.

40,000 low-cost flats to be built for urban poor

New Delhi, May 11
The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) today approved a few proposals, including a project for the construction of 40,000 flats for the urban poor in two different locations, four projects for constructing around 6,200 flats in various places and allotment of around 14,000 low-cost flats by September this year.

It has also decided to accelerate the pace of allotment of already constructed low-cost houses.

The Board in a meeting has also decided that around 4,000 flats would be allotted soon as the DUSIB has chalked out a schedule to organize camps for determining the eligibility.

In order to make the camps successful, the residents in clusters are being informed so that they can come prepared with the necessary documents.

The Board has also approved the construction of a working women hostel at Jhilmil Colony in East

Delhi. Besides, it has given its nod for constructing 40,000 flats for the urban poor at Savda Ghevra and Bhalswa Jahangirpuri. The Board has already constructed 14,000 flats under the JNNURM scheme and around 48,000 flats are being constructed at these sites.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit stated that the Board has okayed another four projects for the construction of around 6200 EWS flats under the Rajiv Awas Yojana and in-situ redevelopment scheme of JJ clusters.

As many as 2,888 flats would be developed under the Rajiv Awas Yojana at Sultanpuri over six hectares of land wherein 15 JJ clusters will be rehabilitated to make the entire Sultanpuri Assembly constituency slum-free, the Chief Minister added.

“Our investigations revealed that Subhash had been having an affair with the victim for the last two years. He met her at a wedding. Later, the girl started avoiding him as he is a school dropout. Feeling slighted, he decided to take revenge,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) B S Jaiswal.

The victim is identified as Arun, who stayed with his family in K Block of Jahangirpuri. He was roaming in the A-Block area when he expectorated in front of Dharampal’s house.

“Standing at the door, Dharampal objected which triggered a heated argument between the two persons,” a police officer said.

Dharampal’s friends soon joined the altercation. He and his friends allegedly beat up Arun and he sustained fatal injuries.

Defence civilians’ houses need repair: BJP

A large number of BJP workers today held a demonstration at the office of the Chief Engineer, Delhi Zone at Delhi Cantonment, to draw the attention of the Union Defence Ministery to the deplorable conditions of the Defence civilians’ houses.

Led by the party MLA, Karan Singh Tanwar, the demonstrators shouted slogans. They gathered near a patrol pump at Gopi Nath Bazar and then marched towards the office of the Chief Engineer, Delhi Zone.
