As many as 791 nominations were filed by various parties for the panchayat samiti elections on the final day of nomination. As many as 82 nominations were filed for the zila parishad elections. Now, teachers will have to spend over five hours in college

The government college teachers will now have to spend at least five and a half hours at their respective colleges and principals will now maintain all the record of the entry and exit of the teachers. During a surprise check, if a teacher is found absent (for one or two periods), they will be marked absent and departmental action will be taken against them.
15 teachers from district put on notice for remaining absent

Thirty three government schoolteachers from Punjab have been served show-cause notice for remaining absent from duty for long. Of these, 15 teachers are from Ludhiana district alone and a majority of them are women. The notices have been served by KS Pannu, Secretary-cum-Director General, School Education, Punjab.

Six booked for illegally harvesting crop
