Not mandatory to supply copies of chargesheet, says police

Panchkula, April 10
In its reply to the court in the Jyoti murder case, the Panchkula police today said it was not mandatory for it to supply the copies of the chargesheet to all the accused at the same time. The court had pulled up the police after it failed to provide the copies of the challan to the accused.

Panchkula, April 10
In a shocking incident, a man allegedly pushed his wife and banged her head against a wall and tried to run his car over her and his seven-year-old ailing son on the premises of the Panchkula court this afternoon. The couple had a matrimonial dispute and the victim, Vinita Kaul, had come to the court to record her statement.

Ambala Rly ex-ASI gets life term for killing wife

Vimlesh Tanwar, Special Judge, Fast Track Court, Ambala, sentenced an ASI (retd) of the Ambala Railway Police to life imprisonment for killing his wife, here today. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the accused, Rajbir Singh.

Warrant against SI for failing to appear in court

The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajnish Kumar today issued bailable warrants against UT police Sub-Inspector Jaspal Singh Bhullar after he failed to appear before the court for a hearing in an accident death case in which he is an accused.

Two get  2-yr jail
Mohali:
A local court today sentenced two persons to a two-year imprisonment in a cheque-bounce case. Harbans Singh and Sunita Rani, who own an electronic goods shop in Desu Majra, bought material worth Rs 8 lakh from one Seema Kaushal and issued her cheques. — TNS

Nigerian held with cocaine

The Police today arrested a foreign national in a case of drug peddling. The police arrested Samsom, a resident of Edo State, Nigeria, and recovered five gm of cocaine from his possession.

Police teams dispatched to look out for accused

A day after the brutal attack on the father, daughter duo, at their flat in a society in Sector 50, the police has dispatched two separate teams to Ludhiana and Amritsar (the possible hide outs of the accused) to nab him . Even 24 hours after the incident, the police has failed to arrest the accused.

Much to the chagrin of cricket buffs who maneouvered through serpentine queues of traffic to reach the stadium, the GMADA authorities charged Rs 30 for parking of each car in the Phase X market area.
