Special teams to check copying: The Punjab government has constituted six special teams to check copying in the coming university examinations. These teams will keep a vigil along with various flying squads formed for the purpose. Education Minister Sikandar Singh Maluka said on Friday that these squads, comprising directorate officials, will hold inspections at various colleges. These teams would be in addition to the existing squads of the respective universities and colleges, Maluka said.

‘Implement Right to Service Act strictly’: Punjab Right to Service Commissioner Dalbir Singh Verka has asked nodal officers to ensure strict implementation of the Punjab Right to Service Act. On the concluding day of the five-day training programme on Friday, Verka said the aim was to bring transparency and accountability in the process of delivering services to public. Verka asked the nodal officers to take necessary action to ensure delivery of services within a stipulated time frame and maintenance of a proper record.

Tiwana is Bar Assn chief:
Narinder Singh Tiwana has been elected as the president of the District Bar Association, Fatehgarh Sahib. He defeated Preet Inder Singh Kohar, by a margin of 80 votes.

Girl drowned
: A two-year-old girl drowned in a pond at Bhanikhera village in Fatehabad last evening. The girl was playing with other children when she suddenly slipped into the pond. Children raised the alarm but the girl died before she could be taken out. Villagers said the pond was too close to the vivtim's house. Some time back a cousin of the girl had also been drowned in this pond.

85 students donate blood: Jan Nayak Chaudhary Devi Lal Vidyapeeth organised a blood donation camp at JCD Polytechnic here on the eve of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal's death anniversary. As many as 85 students donated blood. Dr MM Talwar, a local philanthropist, inaugurated the blood donation camp.

One held on murder charge:
The police has arrested a person for allegedly beating an old person to death.@!@Swaran Singh of Chayori village attacked Prakash Chand of the same village on April 4 with a bamboo stick and he fell unconscious.@!@He was shifted to the Regional Hospital where he was declared brought dead. @!@The police registered a murder case.

Book released:
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh released the new edition of the book titled “Jivan Shaili Ke Rog Aur Ayurveda” authored by Dr Anurag Vijayvargeeya here today.@!@He hoped that it would be useful for readers and encourage them to adopt ayurveda. He said ayurveda was basis of Indian lifestyle.@!@This book had been awarded Rajiv Gandhi Rashtriya Gyan Vigyan Puruskar by President Pranab Mukherjee in 2012.
