Kalka, April 5 Informing about this, advocate VK Bansal, president of the manch said the department of education has not been shifting the above said office to Pinjore, despite of the fact that the District Education Officer (DEO), Panchkula, had issued directives to the BEO, Panchkula, on March 15, 2013, in connection with immediate shifting of the BEO office to Pinjore. On April 4, 2013, the DEO has again directed the BEO, Panchkula, to shift the office in the office of the BDPO, Pinjore. Notably, on December16, last year, the manch had issued a legal notice to the Education Minister, Haryana, Finance Commissioner and Chief Secretary, School Education Haryana and Director General School Education, Haryana, seeking the shifting of the BEO office to Pinjore. But nothing has happened till date. Memorandum to Director General School Education, Haryana, and to Geeta Bhukal, Education Minister, Haryana, have already been submitted , added Bansal. |

Minor’s rape: Man sent to judicial custody
Kalka, April 5 Parents of the victim, resident of a near by village in Pinjore, had lodged a complaint with Pinjore police station on June 28, last year regarding their missing minor girl. They suspected that Rohit of the same village had kidnapped the daughter. The Pinjore police arrested the accused with the minor girl from Pinjore bus stand on Thursday. The police sources said that the medical examination of the minor girl confirmed that she was raped. In yet another case, the Pinjore police arrested four persons for eve-teasing after a woman complained against them. The four accused were produced in the Kalka court, which sent them to judicial custody for 14 days. The alleged accused have been arrested on the complaint of a woman, who had alleged that on April 2, the four had misbehaved and manhandled with her, following which the police arrested them. |

Include green veggies in your diet, expert advises girls
Patiala, April 5 She advised the women students to include green vegetables, fruits and milk in their diet to make them strong healthy and combat the alarming problem of anaemia. College principal, Dr Dharminder Singh Ubha, while speaking on this occasion said it was essential to give education to girls regarding their physical fitness because they play a major role in establishing a healthy society. That is why they should be sensitised about the health problems engulfing them and the dire need to address them seriously. Girl students shared their problems and were provided with remedial solutions. Dr Pooja also told them not to enter into early marriage and bear children because it proves to be detrimental to their health. This message, she said, has to be imbibed seriously by our society to render women stronger and fitter than they are today. |

Jaspal elected Bar president in Dera Bassi
Dera Bassi, April 5 Advocate, Jaspal singh Dappar, was elected as the president of the association. He defeated his rival, Chaudhary Manmohan Singh, with a margin of eight votes. Jaspal Singh Dappar secured 59 votes while Manmohan Singh received 51 votes. Besides, Mahadev Singh was elected as vice-president, Samit Goyal as general secretary and Leeladhar Sharma was elected for the post of cashier. |

Police remand for two youths
Mohali, April 5 The police had registered a case of attempt to murder against Gurdeep Singh, alias Raju, a resident of Phase V, Jatinder Singh, alias Vicky, resident of Sector 69, Paramvir Singh, alias Pamma Baidwan, resident of Sohana; Pardeep, resident of Nanu Majra; Jadu of Sector 70, Nannu of Sohana; Bunty Bhalla, Akash, Arash, and eight
to 10 other unidentified persons. The police said a car came from the direction of a school in Phase III B 1 in which five or six persons were seated. The police said that it tried to stop them but the driver of the car allegedly tried to run over them. There were youths in other cars behind this vehicle. The police alleged that there were sword and knife in the cars. A case under Sections 307 of the IPC, Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act and Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPC Act was registered in this regard. Meanwhile, the police today rounded up Gurpartap Singh of Phase VII and Karamjit Singh and impounded the motorcycle they were riding. The police said the two were stopped at a naka and during checking one knife, one “kirch”, one “gandasi” and an iron rod were allegedly seized from them. |

Youth convicted of murder in P’kula
Panchkula, April 5 Recently, the victim tried to prove that he is a juvenile. But his medical examination confirmed that he was above 18 years. It was in August 2011 when Akhilesh, a domestic help had murdered Shanti Devi (65), mother of a businessman, with the aim of committing a robbery. When the daughter-in-law of the victim reached the house with her two children, she foiled Akhilesh's loot after which Akhilesh fled from the spot after beating them. Meanwhile, the two children, who had suffered injuries through Akhilesh's hands, also identified him in the court saying that he was the one who had killed their grandmother. Akhilesh had stabbed Shanti Devi brutally with a pair of scissors. During the police investigations, Akhilesh had revealed that he wanted to steal some cash in the house and due to which he had to kill Devi who was sleeping at that time at her room. |

Head constable arrested
Panchkula, April 5 The accused, Vishpal, will be produced in the court tomorrow. Three youths were allegedly kidnapped on gunpoint from the busy market of Sector 10, Panchkula, outside the Tawa Restaurant by around 15-20 unidentified youths. The police managed to trace the kidnappers and the victims in the evening. As many as 11 persons have been arrested in the case till now. The victims have been identified as Karanvir, Lucky and Sonu, all residents of Mansa Devi Complex (MDC), Sector 5, Panchkula. According to the police, it was a property dispute which led to the kidnapping. The police said that the victims who were allegedly kidnapped and forcibly taken in cars owed Rs 30 lakhs to the youths. One of the victims, Karanvir, a resident of Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 5, Panchkula, has a case registered against him at Kurukshetra where he along with two men and one woman had reportedly duped Pradeep Kumar, a local resident, for not getting the registry of a plot executed.

She alleged that after few months of her marriage her husband and in-laws started harassing her for dowry. Alok Kumar enters semis in ONGC Asian Billiards Championship
Chandigarh, April 5 After finishing as third seed in the round robin stage, Alok was placed in quarterfinals to play with his compatriot and sixth seed B Bhaskar. In the opening game, Bhaskar cracked with a break of 70 points to win the first game. Alok immediately countered the same and set the match on level 1-all by winning the next game. Alok was eyeing to start leading thereon but in third game he missed dicey cannon on 79 points and Bhaskar scored the remaining 58 points and took a lead of 2-1. After that, Alok geared himself up and produced three consecutive breaks of 96, 74 and 88 points in the next three games to knockout Bhaskar and confirm his berth in the medal round. In the semifinal match, Alok Kumar will play against Thailand's Praput Chaithanasukan who outplayed K Venkatesham of India in straight set of games 4-Nil. Venkatesham hardly got any chance and had no other option than bowing down to the Thai challenge. Four-day seminar for designated coaches kicks off at PCA
Chandigarh, April 5 The BCCI Specialist Academy faculty is conducting the course. MP Pandove stressed upon the coaches the need for giving training to the youngsters on the basics of batting, bowling and fielding so that they have strong base. He impressed upon the coaches that sound basics always helped the players to adopt in any format of the game. He advised the coaches that since it was the initial stage of grooming young players, it was very important for the coaches to know the basics and impart training accordingly. He cautioned the coaches that the association would not tolerate any laxity in this regard. He exhorted them to make full use of this training opportunity, which is being provided to them. According to Sushil Kapoor, spokesperson PCA, the designated coaches would be tested on the ground for their grasp of the basics on the last day of the seminar. All the non-residential cricket academies will start functioning from April 10. |

Chandigarh, April 5 The team would take part in the Punjab inter district cricket tournament to be organised by the Punjab Cricket Association. All the players either studying or living in Fatehgarh Sahib are eligible for the trials. The players must be less then 19 years as on 1-9-2013 (i.e. a player must be born on or after 01-9-1994). The players must bring photocopy of the birth certificate or a certificate from the respective institute to confirm the date of birth. |
