10-yr RI imprisonment for rapist

Additional District and Sessions Judge, Hoshiarpur, J S Bhinder today convicted Paramjit Singh, alias Pamma, son of Sukhchain Singh of Nasrala, under Section 376 of the IPC. He has sentenced him to10 years rigorous imprisonment in addition to a fine of Rs 10000.

In case of non-payment of the fine, Paramjit Singh will undergo six-month imprisonment.

Meanwhile three more accused in the case viz Karanjit Singh, son of Surinder Singh, Palwinder Singh, alias Pindu, son of Ranjit Singh and Dalvir Singh, son of Satwant Singh, all of village Nasrala were acquitted.

Man commits suicide

Gobind Singh (38), son of Amar Singh of Ajowal, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling of a room at his house last night.

According to the police sources, Gobind Singh, who had recently returned to India from Gulf country, was mentally upset due to which he took the step. Sadar police has sent the body to local Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Man found murdered

Surinderpal (42), son of Ram Parkash of Kotla Gaunspur, was found murdered in the morning today. was found near a canal passing through his village. He was having multiple marks of sharp-edged weapons on his body.

According to the SHO of Sadar Police Station, it was suspected that after murdering Surindepal, his body had been dumped near the canal.

The police has sent the body to local Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Sardar police has registered a case.
