Mid-day meal samples collected:
A team of the district health department collected samples of mid-day meal from the central kitchen. District health officer Dr Avinash said, "We collected samples of dal and rice." He said results of already collected samples are still awaited. Food safety officer shiftedFood safety officer Ravinder Garg has been transferred to Moga, while Manoj Khosla has joined back as the food safety officer.

Car stolen: Deepak, a resident of Sector 19, reported to the police that his Accent Viva car bearing registration number HR 70 B 6441 was stolen while it was parked on the Sector 19/27 Dividing Road on March 18. The theft occurred during the day. Deepak had last seen the car at 10.30 AM. He returned in the evening and saw that his car had been stolen. A case has been registered.

Scrap dealer robbed of car, gold ring near Mohali
: Three youth robbed a scrap dealer of his Swift car, a gold kada (bangle), a ring and 1,800 after taking him forcibly to deserted area near Daun village at around 9.30 pm today. A case has been registered in this regard by the police and investigation is underway. —TNS

Poacher's bail plea rejected: The Haridwar district and sessions court has rejected the bail plea of notorious poacher Arjun Nath, alias Kauwa, who was arrested by the Rajaji authorities on February 22 with a large number of pangolin scales. Kauwa is suspected to be involved in tiger poaching cases in the state, particularly in the Jim Corbett National park.
