PU warns coaches
Tells them not to leak out departmental news to media
Deepankar Sharda
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, February 19
Director Sports (additional charge) of the Panjab University Sports Committee (PUSC), during the general body meeting on Monday, warned the coaches who were the whistleblowers of anti-department news. He demanded the termination of the alleged coaches who were in regular contact with media.

"Although it's an internal matter of the department but now that it has been discussed in front of the committee an enquiry is being marked into it. Two committees under the chairmanship of a PUSC's member will look into the matter and will come to a conclusion," said Dalbir Singh Minhas, vice-president of PUSC.

"The top man of the department claims to have all the call details. It is a case of 'spying'. Instead of sneaking into other's pocket, the department should overcome their internal politics and should concentrate on their job more. The department is constituted to improve sports not tarnish each other's image," said a source.

"The vice-chancellors' office hasn't received any intimation regarding this, but if this has happened, it is sheer imprudence. How could anyone sneak into private numbers and allege him or her of tarnishing the image of the department. As far as I am concerned, the office is not aware of any kind of committee being formed on this issue," said SL Verma, officer on special duty with vice-chancellor of PU.
