Abohar college wins PU yoga championship: The DAV College of Education has won the Panjab University Yoga Championship for the fourth consecutive term, principal Dr Venita Singh informed.
The college team comprised Mamta, Poonam, Shabnam, Gurwinder, Ekta and
Kiran. Mamta and Shabnam clinched silver and bronze medals in individual category also.

Two students die in mishap: Kulbir Singh (23) of Kapurthala and Gurjit Singh (14) of Tarn Taran district, students of Shri Khalsa Academy, who were on a visit to a farm, were killed when their tractor turned turtle at a muddy stretch.
Two other students, identified as Gursimran (13) and Hira Singh (14), were injured and admitted to Bhai Jaita Ji hospital. Their condition was stable.
Barnala
2 killed, 1 hurt in road mishap: Two youths were killed while one sustained serious injuries when a bus hit the motorcycle they were riding on the Barnala-Sangrur road at Dhanaula on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Balkar Singh and Harbans Singh, both residents of Sahoke village. They were on their way to Sahoke village from Barnala. The bus was going to Bathinda and there was no passenger in it at the time of the incident. The injured, Chamkaur Singh (35), also from Sahoke village, was admitted to the Government Hospital, Dhanaula. The patient sustained multiple injuries and was referred to the Barnala Civil Hospital. The police said a case would be registered against the driver of the bus. The injured had been further referred to a higher health institution from the Barnala Civil Hospital, the police added. 323 examined at free medical camp: As many as 323 patients suffering from different ailments were examined at a free medical check-up camp organised at Hiala village here on Sunday. 2 killed in accidents in Phagwara: Two persons were killed and as many sustained serious injuries in three road mishaps in Phagwara last night. The deceased were identified as Bikram Singh of Mauli village and Sukhjinder Singh of nearby Pandhwa village. The injured Jaswinder and his mother Banso of Apra village were admitted to the local civil hospital. Man booked on bigamy charge: The police has registered a case of bigamy and sexual abuse against a resident of Bodal village in Hoshiarpur, Pinder Singh Sodhi, alias Gurpreet. The complaint was lodged by Baljinder Kaur of Bham village in Mahalpur. Three of his accomplices, Manjit Singh, Kuldip Kaur and Ajay Kumar, have also been booked for assisting him in the crime. Sodhi is currently residing in Dhyan Singh Colony of Phagwara. The complainant alleged that Sodhi married her in December 2011 claiming himself to be a bachelor even as he was already married. Phagwara Superintendent of Police HPS Khakh said investigations were on. Ex-sarpanch booked for embezzlement: The police has booked a former sarpanch Des Raj of Bhaghana village on charges of embezzlement of Rs 4.88 lakh in grants of development funds released for the panchayat. A complaint was lodged by Director, Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Punjab, in this regard. Superintendent of Police (SP) HPS Khakh said investigations were on in the matter.
