HC puts civic body on notice

The Council of RTI Activists, an NGO, has filed a contempt of court petition against the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation for not removing permanent encroachments from the city. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the MC for March 2.

Major reshuffle in Ludhiana MC
Ludhiana, January 15
Hours after an IAS couple, Dr Sumit Jarangal and Isha Kalia, assumed charge, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation had a major reshuffle of senior posts today. While Dr Sumit will now be the Zonal Commissioner of Zone D, Isha will be the Zonal Commissioner of Zone A.

College staff not paid salary

The teaching and non-teaching employees of SCD Government College have not received their salaries for the month of December, said sources. According to the information, the status of college principal is not clear that either government has extended her service or not. Principal, Neelam Bharadwaj, had joined the SCD Government College on July 31 and she had drawing and disbursing officer powers (DDO) till October 31, 2012, as she was to retire on that day.

Veterinary varsity launches website

Dr VK Taneja, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, today launched a new website of the university. The new website seems to be more user friendly as it had several extra features and was easier to navigate. Its features include upcoming events, job notice, life on campus, link to consortium E-resources and faculty login for updating their profile.
