Jyoti, an unmarried BEd student, who was found murdered in Panchkula yesterday, had undergone an abortion in September after remaining pregnant for over four months. This was revealed in her post-mortem report today.

Students paying extra for meals

Students of PU are unaware of the fact that the shops at Student Centre have rolled back the rates of meals after the students’ agitation. They are still paying the previous rates. In the absence of separate rate lists, students are being overcharged by the shopkeepers.

Youth electrocuted 
Panchkula, November 23 A 23-year-old youth was electrocuted to death after he came in contact with a high-tension wire while working at a sewerage treatment plant in Hotel Shiraaz1 at Sector 5, Panchkula. The victim, Ram Gopal, was rushed to General Hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula.

The Punjab Education Minister, Sikander Singh Malooka, said all vacant posts of teachers in the state would be fulfilled within one year. He assured that the infrastructure need of the schools would also be met in the coming three years and plans are already in place for this purpose.

Realty firm penalised Rs 5 lakh
Chandigarh, November 23
A city-based private firm has been penalised for failing to grant possession of a plot to the complainant within the stipulated period. The UT Consumer Forum has directed Taneja Developers and Infrastructure Ltd to pay Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the complainant who had booked a plot in township called ‘TDI City’ at Mohali-Kharar Road.

Man falls from fifth floor of judicial academy

A 26-year-old man died after he fell from the fifth floor of the judicial academy in Sector 43 this afternoon.The deceased was identified as Umesh Kumar, a resident of Panchkula. He worked for a contractor Rajesh Sood.

In the first league match of U-13 Satluj Winter Premier League Cricket Tournament at Satluj Public School in Sector 4, Panchkula, Satluj Stunners Cricket Academy (A Team) beat Little Flower Convent School, Sector 14, Panchkula, by a huge margin of 125 runs. Satluj won the toss and elected to bat first.
