Anti-drug campaigners honoured: The winners in different competitions organised
under the anti-drug campaign of the education department in Abohar were honoured at a function held in Sachkhand Convent School here on Wednesday. Principal Dr Golden Kaul awarded the certificates and mementos to the students.
Mysterious death: Advocate Rai of Banda Bahadur Nagar was found unconscious at his house after he reportedly consumed poison under mysterious circumstances. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but could not be survived.
Body found: A body of a middle aged man was recovered from a plot near Nakodar Chowk this afternoon. The police has registered a case and initiated investigation.

Protest after youth assaulted in Moga : A Dalit youth was allegedly thrashed by employees of liquor contractors here on Tuesday. Following the incident, residents of Mattanwala
Vehra, a Dalit locality, gathered outside the police station (south) and raised slogans against the alleged police inaction. Victim Jagdeep Singh said he was beaten up by 15-16 employees of liquor contractors who accused him of illegally selling liquor. SSP Surjit Singh Grewal said he had asked the SHO to record youth’s statement and register a
criminal case.

Peddler held with sedative pills: The Sadar Malout police on Wednesday claimed to have caught a drug peddler and seized 90,000 sedative pills and 500 gm of sedative powder from his possession. The accused has been identified as Gurlalajeet Sharma of Khunde Halal village. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered.
