Amritsar
Amritsar-Chandigarh flight from July 23:
After a long wait, the holy city is finally set to get air connectivity with the state capital, Chandigarh, as Air Mantra airline is launching a flight connecting the two key destinations from July 23. The sale of tickets for the flight has already started. The airline would be operating a 17-seater aircraft between the two cities twice a day. Recently, Spice Jet had started Amritsar-Delhi and Amritsar-Srinagar flights.

Maheshinder is adviser to CM:
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Maheshinder Singh Grewal has been appointed adviser to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. He would get a Cabinet rank. Formal orders in this regard were issued on Friday. A former minister, Maheshinder Grewal is also a member of the SAD Core Committee and he was elected to the Punjab Assembly for the first time in 1997 from the Ludhiana (West) constituency. He has remained the Minister for Medical Education and Environment in the 1997-2002 Badal Government.

Youth beaten to death in Moga:
A youth was allegedly beaten to death after a minor scuffle by a liquor shop owner and his employees at Dhurkot village near Nihal Singh Wala in Moga on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Gaganjit Singh (24) of Nangal village. The police said the victim was allegedly attacked by the accused after both the parties entered into an argument over some issue. The police has registered a case against Gora Singh, Mandeep Singh, Ganda Singh (all of Dhurkot), Goldy of Rauke and two other unidentified persons. An investigation is on, police sources said.

Friendship Day:
Kids of nursery, M-I, and M-II of RLB Public School presented their friends with handmade wristbands on Saturday. The students, with the help of teachers, made colourful bands of satin ribbon embossed with studs, stickers and glitters. After the band making activity, the students were shown the movie "3 Idiots". The students were told the meaning of friends and how important friendship was in life.

Colouring contest:The pre-primary section of Saraswati Modern School organised a colouring competition on the school campus on Saturday. All the children participated in the competition, which was followed by a fruit party. The main purpose behind organising the fruit party was to tell the children how important fruits were for their healthy growth. The children were also told about good eating habits, table manners and habit of sharing. In the colouring competition, Harvanjot, Viveka Soni, Yashika, Anmol, and Ruhani were the winners.

Jammu
Youth commits suicide:
A youth reportedly committed suicide at his residence today. Reports said Neeraj was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence at Talab Tillo around 12:30 pm. He was brought to the Government Medical College, Hospital, Jammu, where the doctors declared him brought dead. The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem.
