Tempo driver killed as man fires into air

The son of a former president of the tempo union allegedly shot a tempo driver of Kohara village at the tempo stand here this afternoon.
Official sources said Tejinder Singh Bhola, son of former president of the union, the late Magghar Singh, got off his tempo brandishing his .32 bore licensed revolver and fired into the fire.

47-year-old run over by train

A 47-year-old man was run over by a train while he was crossing a track near Dukh Nivaran Sahib here today. The incident took place here this morning when the victim, identified as Harinder Singh, a resident of Kucha No. 16 in Prem Nagar, was crossing the track.

No clear guidelines on community radio stations
Not easy for authorities

Though the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has asked various districts in Punjab to encourage "not-for-profit" organisations to set up community radio stations with a coverage area of around 10-kilometre radius, the authorities concerned feel that it is difficult to initiate the project in the absence of clear-cut guidelines from the ministry.
