UT’s Hospitality Department under scanner

The UT’s Hospitality Department has come under the scanner of the Principal Accountant General (Audit) for purchasing dairy and grocery items from the Manimajra Cooperative Marketing cum-Processing Society, run under the UT Cooperative Department, at rates 25 per cent more than the local market price of the items.
Servant arrested for attempted poisoning
Chandigarh, June 28
The UT police today arrested a servant for attempting to poison the 72-year-old wife of a late Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court at her residence in Sector 15.
The police arrested Kuldeep Singh, a Talwandi Saboo resident, for adding mercury in food of his employer.
Meeting on house tax next week

The Union Urban Development Ministry has asked the UT Administration to impose house tax in the city, failing which no fresh development proposals sent by it will be entertained for funding in the future.

Traffic police for prepaid 3-wheelers

After complaints were received from the general public against three-wheeler scooter-rickshaw (TSR) drivers for overcharging, faulty meters, refusal, misbehaviour and harassment, the Chandigarh traffic police has already introduced a prepaid TSR fare service at the Sector-17 ISBT; Sector-43 ISBT, Panjab University gate, new OPD near PGI, Sector 22 opposite Sector-17 ISBT, Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, etc.
