Bathinda
Phone directory released
:Veer Colony Residents Welfare Association, Bathinda, today released the telephone directory-2012 of the colony. President of the association, Makhan Lal Bansal, released the directory. A blood donation camp was also organised on the occasion wherein 21 units of blood was collected.
General secretary Devinder Singla, secretary Raja Ram Bansal, patron  Heera Lal, Krishan Lal and joint secretary Prem Kumar highlighted the activities undertaken by the association.

Mandi Board chairman gets extension
: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave approval for granting extension to the chairman of the Punjab Agriculture Marketing Board, Ajmer Singh Lakhowal, for another term of three years. Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister's Office said the present term of Lakhowal as chairman had ended on June 17.

Freedom fighter passes away
: Around 102-year-old freedom fighter Bachhan Singh passed away here today. Bachhan had joined Azad Hind Fauj led by Subhash Chander Bose and remained in British jail for seven years. The youth of the village had inspired from the patriotism of Bachhan.

Recruitment
: Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday announced that 10,477 police constables would be recruited soon. The Chief Minister said 9,361 male and 394 female constables would be recruited for general duty and 722 male constables in the Indian Reserve Battalion.

Gurgaon
2 Banglades his arrested
: The police has arrested two Bangladeshi nationals who were staying here illegally. The police got a tip-off that one Bangladesh national was staying at Narsinghpur village in the district, while another was employed at a godown near the Basai chowk here. Acting on the tip-off, the police swooped on both and arrested them. The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammed Milan of Begar district and Jamil of Kuhlana district in Bangladesh. A case has been registered.

Rewari
Two killed
: Radhe Shyam (50) and his son, Pankaj (20), of Bawal town were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a truck on the Jaipur-Delhi Highway at the Saban Chowk, near Bawal, on Sunday night. The mishap took place when they were returning to Bawal from Shahjehanpur town in Rajasthan where the father-son duo ran a garments’ shop. The driver of the truck absconded after abandoning his vehicle there. 

One held: With the arrest of a city gangster Yash Saini, the police has solved a case of gang rape that had been committed by three city youths with a teenaged girl (19), a student of Narnaul college and a resident of Bachhod village, on Saturday. However, his two accomplices, Monu Saini and Atul Sharma, whose names had been revealed by Yash, were still at large. Yash was produced in a local court on Monday, which remanded him to judicial custody. 

Cash looted: Three motorcycle-borne miscreants forcibly snatched a money bag, which contained Rs 19,500 from a mobile phone dealer Surender Kumar when he was closing the shutters of his shop at the Arya Samaj Road Market here on Thursday night. The miscreants decamped with the booty. Meanwhile, the police has registered a case of robbery against Ashok, Rajesh and Chhotu on a complaint lodged by the victim. A senior police official said that efforts were on to nab the absconding culprits.

Three held
: The police has arrested three persons from different places in this district on suspicious grounds and recovered three country-made pistols and 12 cartridges from their possession. District police chief Rakesh Kumar Arya said during patrolling Harjinder Singh of Mukimpur, Jwala Prasad of Thanesar and Sandeep Kumar of Haripur had been arrested. 

SONEPAT
Woman killed
: Pooja (25) was killed with a sharp-edged weapon allegedly by her husband, Amit, at their house at Rolad Latifpur village on Friday night. Her alleged illicit relation with a youth of neighbouring Saragthal village was stated to be the reason behind her murder. On the complaint of Pooja’s cousin, a case of murder has been registered against Amit who reportedly escaped after committing the crime.

Governor,CM briefed on security situation in Leh
:Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the headquarters of 14 Corps of the Army during their visit to Leh in the Ladakh region today.
Lt Gen R Dastane, Corps Commander, 14 Corps, briefed the Governor and the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah about the security situation in the area, an official spokesman here said.
