Dera Bassi, June 13
Long power cuts have been causing harassment for people of Lalru area in the heat of this summer season. People of Lalru area told that sometime they witness no supply of electricity for the whole day due to power cuts or faults in wires.

At some places, loose electricity wires cause faults during the time of sharp or medium range winds. The unavailability of the electricity at time of 11am to 4pm causes harassment to people. The residents informed that when they try to confirm the time of power cuts from electricity office, the officials do not tell exact time of cuts. Sometime, they face cuts of 5 to 7 hours.

Residents demanded that proper electricity supply should be provided to people in this summer season. In the absence of electricity, people could not get proper water supply from the water works tanks because without electricity, water supply tube wells could not function, they added.

At a time of fast winds, electricity supply always goes missing because of the loose wires. The most line faults always occur in the lines of Mukandpur Feeder. The SDO of the electricity department, Lalru, said that time of power cuts increase or decrease from time to time. Regarding line faults, he said that repair of lines was done during past days and it caused power cuts at some places.
