Poor response to BHARAT bandh call IN CITY

The nationwide bandh call given by the NDA and Left parties to protest the unprecedented petrol price hike today failed to evoke much response in the city. Only malls remained closed during the day, but shops in all major markets like Ghumar Mandi, Model Town, Chaura Bazar and Sarabha Nagar remained open.

The son and nephew of a Congress candidate from Ward No. 59 Satwinder Jawaddi, and three others have been booked in an attempt-to-murder case in connection with a shooting incident last night that left one injured.

The maximum temperature broke the record of the last 10 years, with the city sizzling at 45.8 degrees Celsius today. Weather experts predict that in the next two-three days, the temperature may rise by two degrees more as hot and dry winds continue to blow in the region.

Auto driver stabbed to death

Panic gripped Jamalpur area after the body of a youth, who was stabbed multiple times, was found in a vacant plot at Jawala Singh Nagar, Jamalpur area, here today. The victim was identified as Davinder Singh (24), a resident of Jamalpur area.

Gang of vehicle thieves busted, 2 held
Ludhiana, May 31
With the arrest of two persons, the police has claimed to have busted a gang of vehicle thieves who had stolen a car of a city resident last night. Sadar SHO Harjinder Singh the accused, Jagjit Singh and Ranjit Singh of Janta Colony and Ishar Nagar, had stolen the car of Mandeep Singh from the Ferozepur road.
