BJP demands CBI probe into IPL funding
: Shanta Kumar, former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and incharge of the BJP affairs, Punjab, has demanded a CBI inquiry to find out the source of funds being invested in the Indian Premiere League (IPL). He said incorporation of dance, music, showbiz in cricket had reduced it into a crass commercialisation. He said earlier rumour was rife that Mauritius route was being used to fund the game.

PO arrested
: The police has arrested a proclaimed offender, identified as Husan Lal of Lallian Khurd village, from Cheema Kalan village on Saturday and handed him over to Sadar police station. The accused was wanted by the Sadar police in case of cheating registered in November 2004.

23 injured in road mishap:
Twentythree passengers were injured when a bus overturned on the Doda-Kishtwar road after hitting a mountain on its left side today evening. The bus was going to Doda city from Kishtwar. Injured passengers said the incident happened due to overspeeding. All the injured were admitted to District Hospital, Doda.

Held for indecency
: Men and women in two groups were arrested by Kotwali police under Section 294 for making indecent gestures near Saharanpur Chowk. Those included in one group are Nathi Das, resident of Tehri, Nisha, resident of Patel Nagar, Ratan Das, resident of Tehri, and Vishi Devi, resident of Tehri . The other group had Mumtaz , resident of Patel Nagar, Sunil Kumar from Mangalore, and Naresh Chand, resident of Pauri Garhwal.

Suicide: Rajbir, a carpenter, committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in Chuna Gaon, near Patel Nagar. His wife had left the house with her two children after she had a fight with Rajbir over remaining drunk most of the time. When a neighbour went to his house in the morning today and knocked the door, he got no response. He peeped inside from the window and saw Rajbir hanging. The police was called on the spot.

Fraudster in debt: Nahid Anjum Rizvi, Principal of a government college and main suspect in a fraud case related to chit fund expressed her inability to return the money to those who deposited it with her. She said she had already incurred losses for losing out money on property, she purchased, and was plunged into debt with no further investment coming from the prospective partners in the chit fund business for the past six months. In the talks mediated by SP, Rural, GS Dhyani, he asked the complainants to file an FIR against Rizvi so that the police could further take action.
