CM gives the go-ahead to fill posts of teacher, lecturer

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave a nod to fill all vacant posts of teacher in schools and lecturer in colleges on a regular basis to ensure the smooth functioning of educational institutions in the state. Teachers across the state have been demanding the filling of vacancies, frozen for years.
Rail track shines ahead of safety officer’s visit

Husband booked for abetting suicide
Ludhiana, April 2
The police has booked a man for allegedly driving his wife to commit suicide. The 42-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at their house in Shimlapuri on March 30, four days before the wedding of her daughter.
DC takes up sewerage issue with NHAI

Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari has reportedly written to the Chief Secretary, Government of Punjab, to convene a meeting of officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), PWD B&R and GLADA to facilitate permission for laying sewerage at Mullanpur.

Jewellers go on indefinite hunger strike

Girl students may be forced to leave school

Liquor guzzler dies of burns in Machhiwara
Machhiwara, April 2
A person, who has guzzled liquor, was burnt to death here lat night. The man, identified as Ashok Kumar (48), a resident of Raian Mohalla, used to run a tea stall on the Rahon road. He had purchased a few bottles of liquor after its prices were slashed on March 31.
