Army Chief names retd Lt Gen in his bribery complaint to CBI
New Delhi, March 31
Army Chief Gen VK Singh has named retired Lt Gen Tejinder Singh in his complaint to the CBI as the person who offered him the Rs 14-crore bribe to clear a tranche of nearly 600 “sub-standard” trucks. The Chief has assured the CBI that he would provide more material about the alleged bribe offer very soon, sources said.

It was a busy day today for staff at the Kapurthala Modern Jail, which saw scores of visitors pouring in from across the state. Each one of them wanted to meet the VVIP inmate, Bibi Jagir Kaur, sentenced to five years of imprisonment yesterday for plotting the forcible abortion and abduction of her daughter Harpreet Kaur.

HP must get 7.19% power share from Bhakra, rules SC
New Delhi, March 31
The Supreme Court has dismissed the petitions of Punjab and Haryana seeking a review of the September 27, 2011 judgment by which the apex court had directed the two states to raise Himachal’s share of electricity in the Bhakra-Nangal project from 2.5 per cent to 7.19 per cent with retrospective effect from 1966.

CBI chargesheets Jagan in assets case
Hyderabad, March 31
The CBI today filed a chargesheet against Kadapa MP and YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and 12 others in an alleged illegal assets case. Jagan, who is the country’s richest MP with assets worth over Rs 365 crore, has been named as accused no. 1 while suspended IAS officer and former Home Secretary BP Acharya is mentioned as accused no. 9 in the keenly-watched disproportionate assets case.

AFSPA amendments pending before CCS: Chidambaram
New Delhi, March 31
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today said the discussion with chief ministers on the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) could possibly be allowed more time, revealing also that his ministry has sought three amendments to the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

The photo reminds him of his days as chief of the Special Task Force (STF) set up to nab forest brigand Veerappan. For his anti-Veerappan operations, Bidari was awarded the First Bar to the Police Medal for Gallantry by the President.
