Vaccination must

If you are gearing up to get your child admitted to nursery in a CBSE-affiliated school, you first need to take him/her for vaccination. The latest circular by the Board has directed schools to ensure that every child is vaccinated before admission. The directive makes it mandatory for parents to submit health and immunisation record of the child before his/her admission.

‘Market on wheels’ launched in Sector 14 of Panchkula on Saturday Residents to get taste of fresh veggies at doorstep

Residents of Panchkula have a reason to cheer as in a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) today started “Market on Wheels”, a mobile van that would deliver fresh fruits and vegetables in bulk at their doorstep.

Four chain snatching cases lead to panic
Chandigarh, March 24
The Chandigarh Police was left with an egg on its face, with four snatchings and a snatching attempt reported from across the city today in broad daylight in less than six hours. Two motorcycle - borne snatchers targeted Asha Devi, a 70-year-old resident of Sector 22, by snatching her gold chain near her residence.

2 policemen get bail in bribe case

The CBI court yesterday granted bail to two policemen who were booked a case of graft on February 26. The court granted anticipatory bail to AS Desraj and regular bail to head constable Vijinder Singh. Desraj had managed to give the CBI sleuths a slip and was absconding.

Student killed in road accident

A 22-year-old BTech student of Sukhmani College, Dera Bassi, died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the Zirakpur-Ambala highway last evening. The deceased was identified as Durgaesh, a resident of Ram Darbar, Chandigarh.

Flesh trade racket busted, four held

The police today arrested two women, along with two pimps, from a rented accommodation in Yog Vihar Colony, Baltana. The accused have been identified as Ajay Rana and Balwant and the two girls belong to Ludhiana and UP.

The 25th SJOBA Thunderbolt Sub Himalayan Rally was flagged off from St Johns School, Sector 26, here today.
The rally participants underwent an endurance trial, based on the time, speed and distance format. Later, the Gypsies in the challenge rally were flagged off with Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik, toppers of the super special stage, leading the race.

Neelanchal Gupta Neelanchal lifts trophy

Neelanchal Gupta defeated Tanya Batra to lift the girls (U-14) title in the ongoing Chandigarh club open lawn tennis tournament here today.
The final was a one-sided affair, with Neelanchal defeating Tanya by 8-1. However, it was a totally different story in the first semifinal of boys U-16 category as Sachit Malhotra overcame Raghav Talwar by 8-7 in a three set match. Adhhayan Singh overcome Yogesh Dogra by 8-2.

Local tennis player Jashan won the title of the girls (U-16) category in the BTS tennis tournament here today. In the final, Jashan defeated Anjan 6-4. Earlier, in the semi-final Jashan defeated Sanya 6-4 while Anjan overcame Matri 6-4.
