Despite a ban on removing sand from river beds, the illegal mining of sand on the banks of the Satluj near Sidhwan Bet has been going on a large scale. Call it failure of authorities or political patronage enjoyed by the illegal sand miners; it has increased manifolds during the recent past.

Man booked for killing two migrant women
