Frisking in, drugs out of courts complex

All-women gang targeting religious places
Ludhiana, March 10
Following the arrest of three women who were caught red handed while stealing at Nanaksar Gurdwara during Holi festival two days ago, it has come to light that the trio were part of a 60-member all-women gang of thieves who targeted religious places, including Golden Temple, Chintpurni, Jwalaji and Anandpur Sahib.

Licences of 23 chemists suspended
Ludhiana, March 10
The health department has suspended the licences of 23 chemists and cancelled the licences of two for not keeping the sale and purchase record of medicines.

Proclaimed offender nabbed after 3 years
Khanna, March 10
Acting on a tip off, Khanna Police have arrested a proclaimed offender who had been absconding for three years. Talking about the arrest, ASI Jagar Singh gave information that a case was registered under section 382/328/411 IPC at Sadar Khanna police station against Lakhvir Singh, a resident of Sudhar village, and some others, but he was absconding from a court at Khanna.

Pvt school principals, staff a harried lot

A teacher looks for roll numbers of students in the PSEB regional office, Ludhiana. Private school principals and staff, who come to collect roll numbers from the district office of Punjab School Board (PSEB), have to face inconvenience while collecting the same as they have to do the work on their own. When the roll numbers of classes X and XII were being distributed, it was found that these packages were not sealed properly. Sources said as the PSEB was reeling under staff shortage, more employees could not be deployed for the distribution of roll numbers.
