While a woman tried to save her husband accused of murdering her sister by turning hostile in court, the brother of the accused came forward to bring justice for his deceased wife. In an interesting turn of events, the victim’s sister and parents turned hostile in the murder case, while
the deceased’s husband supported the case even though he gave statements against his brother.
PU topper gets gold medal after 20-year fight

The 20-year quest to get gold medal from Panjab University (PU) finally ended today for Rubinderjeet Singh Brar, an excise and taxation officer (ETO) posted in
Mohali. Brar, after fighting a legal battle for almost two decades to claim his due, was finally awarded a gold medal at the PU’s academic function held today.
Brar, who did his bachelors in civil engineering in 1992 from Punjab Engineering College
(PEC), missed one of his fourth semester exams, following which he had to again appear in the exam.

After the success of the fashion show organised for Murrah buffaloes, the Haryana Animal Husbandry is organising a similar show for canine pets.
More than 250 pets are expected to sashay down the ramp during the event being organised at the government-run Pet Medical Centre (PMC) in Sector 3 here.
Not only pets, their handlers too would be judged during the fashion show, as the organisers have announced special prizes in the category of "best woman handler" and "best junior handler".

No respite from city police lapses
It's shameful that a helpless young man lost his life because the police did not want the burden of one more case!
It is not the first time that something like this has happened. Last time a little boy, Khushpreet, lost his life because of lapses in police procedures followed by SHO Udaypal Singh and his team. Actually, SHO Udaypal Singh and his assistant Poonam Dilawari changed the facts in their report when they came to the scene. I suppose I should have offered them some bribe!!
Missing boys return home

Five schoolchildren, who had gone missing from Indira Awas Colony, Ramdarbar, yesterday, returned to their respective houses safely this morning.
It was found all the students, who are to appear for exams later this month, had gone to pay obeisance at the Mata Mansa Devi temple.

Sampark centre told to pay Rs 5,000

The UT Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has upheld an order of the consumer forum directing the Sampark centre for MC space booking in Sector 17 to pay Rs 5,000 as compensation to a person for mental agony and harassment. The centre has also been directed to refund an amount of Rs 4,635 and pay to the complainant Rs 3,000 as litigation costs.
Lankan Airlines ordered to refund Rs 30,000

The UT Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Sri Lankan Airlines to refund an amount of Rs 30,000 to six complainants whose trip to Bangkok was spoilt due to its deficiency.

Two months on, sewerage fault stays
