Man shoots mother-in-law

An elderly woman was killed while four other members of her family, including two minor children, were injured when her son-in-law allegedly opened indiscriminate firing at them around 9 pm last night. The incident, which took place at Virk village near Sidhwan Bet, spread shock and panic in the area.

Man gets 7-yr RI for rape
Ludhiana, February 11
Additional Sessions Judge Mohammad Gulzar has convicted Dharampal, alias Ricky, of New Ashok Nagar, Salem Tabri , on the charges of enticing a girl and raping her. He has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for seven years. A case was registered following the complaint of the father of the girl in 2008. The accused had stated that the girl was his legally wedded wife.

Acting on a complaint about harassment to general public during the payment of electricity bills at the cash counters of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) in different parts of the city, the Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) has sought a detailed report from the power utility before the next date of hearing on April 24, 2012.
