Body found in trench
Chandigarh, February 10
The trench on the roadside in Sector 48, Chandigarh, where the body of Manav Garg (inset) was spotted by a pedestrian on Sunday. The body of a 21-year-old student of B.Tech at Chitkara University, Baddi, was found lying under mysterious circumstaces in a muddy trench along a roadside in Sector 48 here this morning.

Less than a year after patient Ghinder Singh was allegedly burnt to death in the PGI, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has concluded that he was dead before the flames engulfed recovery ward number five.

Body found under mysterious circumstances
Zirakpur, February 11
ex-serviceman, who was working as a security guard in a factory at Singhpura village, was found dead under mysterious circumstance here today. The deceased was identified as Surjit Singh (50), a resident of Pathankot.

Mohali dealer penalised for delivering old car model
Mohali, February 11
The Mohali District Disputes Redressal Forum has held a Mohali-based car dealer guilty for passing off a 2010 model Alto car as a 2011 model. Levying a penalty of Rs 20,000 on the dealer, Chittosho Motors, the forum comprising BS Mehandiratta, president, Dr SS Dhaliwal and HK Ghuman, both members, held him guilty on account of deficiency in service.

Structures part of four-laning project: NHAI
Panchkula, February 11
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Himalayan Expressway Limited (HEL) have maintained that the structures raised near the Chandimandir toll plaza are part of the four-laning of the Zirakpur- Parwanoo highway and there is no violation on their part.

Army personnel to have personalised stamps

Defence personnel in the tricity region would be able to have their own stamps as the Army Postal Service (APS) has sought permission from the Directorate of Postal Service, New Delhi, to issue it personalised stamps.

Poster making marks IT fest

The department of computer science, Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45, organised “Tech Mantra”, the IT fest, today on the college premises. It included items like website development in which students from various colleges were asked to develop a website from the software provided to them. Other competitions like debugging, software development and poster making were also organised.

Mystery shrouds theft at P’kula house
Panchkula, February 11
Mystery shrouds the theft at a house in Sector 4 when the police found a woman inside the house. According to the information, Heera Lal, owner of house no. 284, Sector 4, had gone abroad with his wife to meet his kids. They stayed there for around two months. But, on Friday when they reached Delhi they informed their neighbours, who had the keys, to get their house cleaned.

Man dies in hit-and-run case

In a hit-and-run accident, Mangal Singh alleged that the driver of a car (HR-51-B-0912) sped away after hitting his bicycle near the road dividing sector 9 and 4 yesterday.

In a case of forgery, the owner of the Nikka Mal Babu Ram jewellery shop in Sector 22 has filed a complaint with the police that some unidentified person stole a blank cheque and tried to withdraw Rs 48.5 lakh from an account.

Man injured in road mishap

Jaspal Singh Rana, a resident of the city, alleged that he was injured after being hit by a rashly driven vehicle (PB-12L-9000) at the light point of Sectors 15 and 16 yesterday. A case under Sections 279 and 337 of the IPC has been registered
