3 months on, nothing changes for Snehalaya

Even three months after its decision, the social welfare department of the UT Administration has failed to appoint a full-time doctor, a nurse and a sports teacher at the controversial shelter home, Snehalaya. Even the decision to provide a dispensary with a stock of routine medicines remains unimplemented, much to the discomfort of the inmates.
5-yr-old panther creates terror in Barwala, caught

Residents of villages around Barwala, who had sustained injuries in more than half-a-dozen wild encounters with a panther during the past week, heaved a sigh of relief when the five-year-old cat was captured by wildlife officials at Rehod village here today.

The brigade of new faces that will soon take over the charge of the city for the next five years wants to come up with a new vision that will help in the development of the city. They also hope to resolve the existing problems.
Davesh Moudgil, a BJP candidate who won from Ward No. 22, said he would introduce a concept in his ward to involve the public in decision-making related to development in the ward. “The ward development fund would be spent on the work that would be on the priority list of residents. I would ensure their participation in all the decisions related to the ward,” he said.

9 contractual employees sacked

The UT Administration terminated as many as nine officials, all contractual employees, whose names were allegedly figured in the embezzlement of funds to the tune of Rs 5.60 lakh in the Registration and Licensing Authority office, here.
Fog delays trains

The late running of major trains in the region due to the intense fog continued for the second day today with Shatabdi Express, which was scheduled to arrive at 11am, arrived late by about one hour and 30 minutes. Nepalese students to get medical facilities at PGI

Chandigarh: The police today arrested the driver of the accused’s vehicle, Manpreet Singh, in a case of causing death due to negligence. He had fled the spot after crushing a motorcyclist on December 17.
