PU move raises Eyebrows

Questions are being raised about Panjab University's move to have a Syndicate meeting for approving the promotion of at least 109 faculty members under the career advancement scheme (CAS) and increasing the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65, on December 20, which is coinciding with the forthcoming Municipal Corporation (MC) elections.

Seeking better response, GMADA relaxes eligibility criteria
Mohali, December 11
To seek a better response for its 4,500 multi-storeyed flats scheme in Sector 88 that opens tomorrow, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has relaxed the eligibility criteria of domicile for applicants. Persons residing anywhere in the country can apply for the flats.

‘Free delivery’ scheme a success in city

The Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) to promote institutional deliveries has proved to be a success in the city, with the Government Medical College and Hospital Sector 32 (GMCH-32) registering a 50 per cent increase ever since “free deliveries” were started in June under a centrally sponsored scheme.

PU all set to introduce road safety as compulsory subject

Missing Baby Case
Two sent to 3-day police custody

The police produced two women, accused of stealing newly born from a Panchkula hospital, in the district courts here today. The court has sent the two to police custody for three days. The role of the accused has also to be investigated in the missing case of Nishant, a 10-month-old boy, on September 29 at Mansa Devi Temple, said police sources.

Theft bid at ATM

Thefts in the town continued for the second day here today. The locks of a house were found broken in Sector 25 this morning. However, an attempt of theft at an ATM of ICICI Bank in Sector 15 was foiled when watchman raised the alarm, following which police personnel sealed all roads of the sector and rounded up suspects.
