The PNDT Advisory Committee today cancelled the registration of an ultrasound centre of Lifeline Hospital in connection with the alleged abortion of a five-month-old foetus.

Medico tries to kill herself, on ventilator
Ludhiana, December 2
Khushpreet Kaur, an third-year MD student of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), consumed 47 tablets of Digitalis on November 30. She is on a ventilator. Doctors have told the police that she was unconscious and not fit to give any statement.

He cannot write, walk and stand on his own, yet he runs a diagnostics laboratory successfully. Manoeuvring his automatic wheelchair in the corridors of the laboratory, Dr Satwinder Singh Grewal, who has been suffering from multiple sclerosis (a neural disease in which brain nerves get damaged), welcomes his patients with a smile and conducts MRI, CT Scan and ultrasound with the help of his staff.

14 samples fail test

As many as 14 samples collected by the health department during the festival season have failed the purity test. The health department had collected 82 samples of various eatables during the festival season from the district. Out of these, 14 have failed the test.

10-yr-old needs financial help

Ten-year-old Abhay does not even know what condition is he suffering from, but this kid, suffering from aplastic anaemia, has undergone such a traumatic experience at such a tender age that he winces even at the thought of the next blood transfusion, which is necessary for him to sustain life.

Tough time for commuters on NH-1

With the morning visibility getting difficult due to winters fog, commuters on the National Highway No.1 (NH 1) find travelling a Herculean task. The reason being the road-widening project is lying in the lurch and lack of preparedness on the part of NHAI authorities, who despite setting in of the winter season, are yet to take imperative measures required in such conditions.

IOC consumers flock to other companies

The going is tough for consumers of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) following a backlog of LPG cylinders from a week to nearly a fortnight over the last couple of months. A large number of consumers are now shifting to LPG distributors of other oil companies.

Land mafia thrives with impunity
Ludhiana, December 2
The well-organised land mafia in the city has spread its tentacles and is selling the same piece of land to at least two-three persons. But the accused go scot free as the cases keep dragging under multiple inquiries even though there are standing orders by the High Court and the Director-General Police (DGP) against such inquiries. Due to “political patronage” and collusion of certain bureaucrats, nothing comes out of these inquiries. Highly placed officials in the police department said on an average, the department received about 20-30 complaints of land-grabbing in a month.

It was day full of fun and frolic on the premises of Tagore Public School, Agar Nagar, which proved to be a complete package of entertainment for tiny tots of Pre-KG to class I. The permanent lok adalat (PLA) has quashed the demand of Rs 1,03,920 raised by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (Powercom) on the charges of theft of energy. Permanent lok adalat chairman RS Khokhar and a member, Nand Lal held that theft charges could not be proved.
