Probe marked into bank fraud
Patiala, November 21 The fraud came to the notice of bank officials almost a week ago when some local residents claimed that someone had transferred money from their accounts. “My friend was taken aback when he came to know that someone had withdrawn Rs 80,000 from his account. Residents blamed bank officials for the fraud. When contacted, Patiala SSP Gurpreet Singh Gill said he had forwarded the complaint to the cyber cell, while the role of insiders would also be looked into. “The bank’s software is hacked and is being misused and we are following the case,” he added. Public relations officer of the bank VP Gupta said their IT cell was looking into the matter and the CCTV footage from all ATMs across the country from where the money had been taken out was being seen. “We have advised our customers to change their ATM pin codes,” he added. |
