Elderly man run over by car
Dera Bassi, October 1 The deceased was identified as 62-year-old Ram Milan from Sant Kabir Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh. He was killed on the spot. The driver drove away from the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. The police registered a case in this connection.
One crushed to death
One person was crushed to death under the wheels of a train near Dappar village around 12 noon on Saturday. Government Railway Police personnel reached the spot. The body was sent to the Civil Hospital here for post-mortem examination. The deceased was identified as 42-year-old Amarjit Singh of Mianpur village. The police said he was crossing the tracks when the incident took place. Proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC were initiated.
Man succumbs to injuries
An assistant lineman with the electricity department, who met with an accident near Bhagwanpur on the Barwala road on Thursday, died on Friday morning. He was identified as 52-year-old Baldev Singh of Maalan village. He was on way to Rampur Sainian when the accident took place, in which he sustained head injuries. He was shifted to the PGI in Chandigarh, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC.
Scooterist dies in accident
Banur: A scooterist was killed in a road accident near here on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Piara Singh of Gurugobind Singh Nagar at
Rajpura. The accident occurred when a truck hit his scooter from the rear near Jangpura on the Chandigarh-Rajpura road. The truck driver drove away from the spot. The victim was admitted to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The body was handed over to relatives of the deceased after post-mortem examination. The police registered a case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the

Chandigarh, October 1 Resuming at 61 for 5 and chasing 198, the MPCA were bowled out for 114 in 39 overs, thus conceding a vital first innings lead of 84 runs to Hyderabad. In their second innings, Hyderabad scored 184 for 6 in 46 overs and declared their innings, with V Reddy scoring an unbeaten 81 and R Kundiyan 47. For the MPCA, Aditya Singh (2 for 34) was the main wicket taker. In their second innings, the MPCA were 48 for 2 in 19 overs when stumps were drawn. Rayan Kaundinya was declared BALLS man of the match. In the second match, Mumbai while resuming at their overnight score of 98 for 1 went on to score 304 for all in 93.3 overs and eked out a lead of 106 runs over Kerala. The Mumbai innings revolved around a punishing century 138 by Akash Parkar who ably supported by Akarisht Gumal 40 and Ninad Kadam 41. For Kerala medium pacer Abhishek Mohan 5 for 73 and Saly Vishwanath 4 for 103 did most of the damage. Trailing by 106 runs on the first innings Kerala were 112 for 4 in their 2nd innings in 30 overs at draw of stumps. Chatterjee was joined by skipper Sandeepan Das and the duo put on 39 runs for the 3rd wicket before Chatterjee was trapped in front by Sandeepan for 62. Sandeepan and Vivek Singh then stitched a fruitful partnership of 82 runs for the fourth wicket before Sandipan s was caught by Jaskaran off Amritpal for 61. Vivek also left soon after scoring 44.
