The city will finally have something to be proud of with the Punjab government going ahead with an ambitious project to set up a race course on 150 acres of land belonging to the animal husbandry department. With an eye to generate additional revenue the cash strapped government plans to rake in money by introducing horse racing, a popular form of gambling, in the state’s industrial hub.

With drain-cleaning machine lying defunct, Jagraon chokes

A vehicle fitted with a machine for cleaning the drains of the city is lying unattended in the local municipal council’s office since long. The vehicle and the machine, which was purchased by the Jagraon Municipal Council two years ago, are not in a working condition.

Congress councillor hand in glove with land mafia, alleges resident

A resident of the city has accused a Congress councillor of helping land mafia in trying to illegally encroach upon a piece of land owned by an NRI in the Mahal Bagat area near Salem Tabri. The complainant, Dr Rajeev Hora, has alleged that the land in question is owned by one of his partners who lives in Canada.
Awareness campaign on dengue

Puppets steal the show

Mutilated body of 48-yr-old found on rly tracks

Death of a 48-year-old man, whose mutilated body was found from a railway track near Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar in Khanna yesterday, is shrouded in mystery. Though, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Khanna, is yet to register a case, family members of the deceased have alleged that the man was murdered and his body thrown on the railway track to make it appear as an accident.
Three employees of private security agency arrested
