Pvt colleges can now issue learner’s licence
Ludhiana, July 16
The transport department has decided to extend the licensing authority to private colleges as well. Earlier, only government institutions were given the authority to issue licences to their students.

The cops were left scratching their heads when the complaints turned out to be false. The crime busters, who could have spent their time and energy in solving other cases, ended up catching the complainants themselves.

City girl gets 31st rank in AIIMS

City girl Mehnaaj Kaur Grewal has made the city proud by securing 31st rank in the entrance exam of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the results of which came last evening. The joys of Mehnaaj knew no bounds as soon as she saw her name in the list of successful candidates. Though she was sure that she would be through in the exam, she had kept her fingers crossed till results came last evening.

Desist from ragging or face action, warn medical colleges
Ludhiana, July 16
With less than 15 days left for the new academic session in the city’s two medical colleges to begin, the college authorities have issued circulars to students, warning them against indulging in ragging. The colleges have issued strict instructions to students and also issued circulars to their parents, mentioning the guidelines of the Raghwan Committee constituted by the Supreme Court with regard to ragging. The punishment has also been spelt out.

The department of plastic surgery and burns, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday observed the plastic surgery day in DAV Public School, BRS Nagar. Professor and head of plastic surgery Dr Sanjeev Uppal said the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India has recently declared July 15 as the plastic and reconstructive surgery day.
