Consultancy firm told to refund Rs 50,000
Chandigarh, June 21 In his complaint filed with the consumer forum, Arminder Singh Sohi, a resident of Hoshiarpur, had stated he had contacted RIMWEA after the latter put out an advertisement in newspapers on admissions to the course. He said he was told medical and dental degrees issued by colleges in Romania were “approved” by the World Health Organization, the Medical Council of India and the Dental Council of India and they were “valid” in 27 European Union countries. He added the firm told him after completing a course in Romania students could also “migrate” to any European country through the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). The complainant stated he deposited Rs 50,000 for the MBBS course whose duration was over five years on August 7, 2008. He claimed he refused to accept to enroll in a computer science diploma course at Global College for Diploma in Computer Studies as he was “interested in joining an MBBS course” in Romania. “Despite depositing Rs 50,000 with RIMWEA for the MBBS course it deferred the matter on one pretext or the other, which amounts to deficiency in service”, the complainant said. Denying Sohi’s allegations, RIMWEA Career Forum stated in its reply it had immediately initiated the process to get the complainant enrolled in an MBBS course in Romania and had also received an admission letter on August 14, 2008 from a Romanian university. “According to the letter the final inscription would take place after the tuition fees were paid and the complainant would sign a contract at the beginning of the academic year (September 29)”, the firm added. RIMWEA stated it had informed the complainant accordingly and had asked him to deposit the tuition fees with the university, to sign the contract as stipulated in the admission letter and to submit the requisite documents but he failed to do so. The consumer forum, headed by its president, PD Goel, observed RIMWEA had not produced any evidence on record to prove it had informed the complainant about the admission letter. “Thus it can legitimately be concluded RIMWEA Career Forum failed to keep its promise as the complainant didn’t secure admission in an MBBS course in Romania, which amounts to deficiency in service. Therefore, the complainant is entitled for refund of Rs 50,000 that was deposited for admission to the course”, the forum added. Deficiency in service y The complainant said he deposited ~50,000 for the MBBS course whose duration was over five years on August 7, 2008. ‘IT’s Black Day in history of Punjab soccer’
Chandigarh, June 21 There is no doubt that JCT FC was a popular platform for footballers of the region and pride of “Punjabis” in the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) backed clubs tournament. Prior to JCT FC that came into being in 1977, it was “Leaders Club” that dominated soccer. The club provided identity to several players of the state. According to sources, the performance of the club in the past five years, whether in I-League or any other tournament, was the main reason behind such a decision of the management. However, financial crisis in the JCT Mills added fuel to the fire, the sources added. Gems of the club Striker Harjinder Singh, who is coaching at Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) and former captain of Indian Football team, ace mid-fielder Tejinder Kumar Sharma, former India captain and under whose guidance the city junior soccer team won the Dr BC Roy Trophy for the first time, Charanjeet Lal, former Indian player Singh, Kartar Singh, Kashmira Singh and many more Club honoured The club was honoured to be the lone club in North to be able to spot talent at all levels, including the junior level with its JCT Academy for budding players |
Painful decision, say former players
It was a “Black Day” in the history of Punjab soccer after JCT Mills, Phagwara, decided to discontinue its JCT Football Club in the region, as it was the lone platform for players of the region to provide an entry into the Indian team. Other clubs in the state don’t enjoy the status to participate at such a
level.
Harjinder Singh, former player (1981 to 1984) The decision is more painful than being a rude shock. It is excruciating that the club that acted as a platform for several players to establish their career, suddenly looses its
identity Charanjeet Lal, former player (1982 to 1986) This sudden decision will definitely affect the culture of football in Punjab. The club was the lone representation of North in the I-League tournament, but now it will be difficult for players to uplift themselves for International
standards Tejinder Kumar Sharma, played for the club in 90’s with IM
Vijayan. The club had its own importance in the region. It provided tremendous talent to the nation. It will take a long time to cover the loss. Players, including former players and even a common soccer lover in Punjab will miss the
club Sehajpal Singh, former player (2008-10) The club was a learning platform. Players of the region dreamt of representing the club, but this decision will shatter the hopes of several aspiring players of the
region Rahul, former player (2007-08) |
