Black market: Gas agency sells LPG cylinders at Rs 700
Morinda, June 19 Gas consumers Rakesh Puri, Rajinder Pal, Vinod Kumar, Hakam Singh and Ashok Kumar Rana alleged that the employees of the Morinda Gas Agency, which deals in Indane cylinder supply, had been making fake cylinder booklets and also misbehaving with the consumers. Instead of providing people cylinders on time, the gas agency employees were allegedly selling the same at higher rates in black market. Domestic cylinders were being sold at Rs 700 in the black market. Area residents had made written complaints to the Chief Minister’s office alleging that such malpractices forced consumers to buy cylinders illegally. Consumer Rakesh Puri alleged that if a complete check of the records with gas agency was conducted there would be many cases of cylinder booklets issued in fake name of people who did not even exist. Consumers alleged that despite repeated requests, the agency did not book cylinders. If some consumer went to the agency with his or her booklet, the employees at the agency made fake entries into his/her booklet, leaving an impression that the consumer had been timely given the gas supply. When people tried to reason, their booklets were torn off. Rakesh Puri said when he went to the gas agency recently, the agency employees made advance entries of September 30, 2011, and December 27, 2011. Rakesh has made complaints to the district food and civil supplies office, but the authorities had turned Nelson’s eye. The district food and civil supplies officer Roopinder Kaur said she has not received any written complaint regarding this. Indane area sales manager Chetan Patwari said he was aware of the malpractices of the said gas agency. “Few months ago, a departmental inquiry was conducted and the agency was slapped a fine as well. If any consumer faces a problem he or she may call at 0172-2780568 and lodge the complaint. We will redress it effectively,” he asserted. Despite repeated attempts, the owner of the Morinda Gas Agency could not be contacted for comments. City footballers want global exposure
Chandigarh, June 19 At present, there are almost nine players representing the nation in different age groups, but here at local-level these players have no other option but to undergo a daily practice. The players and officials concerned are demanding for a foreign trip with the changing dominance of soccer. The exposure trip to Germany, which was earlier a part of the CFA schedule, is also pending form the past two years. “Even for playing at a good-level one needs good exposure. The players no doubt are performing well, but it is high time for players to get international exposure. Earlier, our players went to Germany and the result was visible,” said Harjinder Singh, chief coach of the academy. Notably, the players have no tournaments to play except for the national-level competition. If the administration is spending a good amount, proper treatment should be given to players. “The academy has moved to international-level. But apart from playing an inter-school tournament, there is no other tournament for us in the whole year, whereas for the Administrator Cup the batch is still young,” said Harjinder. Selected in Indian team Two players of CFA Academy- Daniel Lal Hlimpuia, and Arzit Lal Ramzauva have been selected in the Junior (U-16) Indian team squad today Striker Daniel and mid-fielder Arzit have been selected to represent the country in the upcoming Asian qualifying championship to be held in China next month. The North-East duo is also expected to remain the part of the team for the Portugal and England tour A total of five players were selected for the camp, out of which these two made it to the final list Platform to excel I am happy with the selection of boys, they both are excellent players and they also take full advantage of the co-ordination among them. This can be a good platform for them to hone their skills~ Quality players We need international exposure. Players must know how to overcome strong contenders so that they can perform well at international-level after giving their best at local and national levels. If the academy wants to produce more players there should be an extra effort for quality — coach Harjinder Singh |
